SPECIAL CHILD CARE SCHOOL

LACIT has undertaken the following activity for educational development of poor and marginalized 41 Slum Children from the Samta Nagar slum area who are enrolled in KG I & K.G. II. The school runs as per the norms of formal school based on their curriculum and extra curriculum schedules.
Facilities like Class room, toilet, playing ground are available in the premises.

During their leisure time, both the teacher and student are involved in doing productive work such as planting tree, cleaning the surroundings, earn and learn activities etc.
The school also observes and celebrates festivals & National Days like, Rakshabandhan, Independence day, Ganesh Puja, Gandhi Jayanti etc. A local management committee has been appointed in order to guide the school and properly implement programs.
Two teachers and one social worker is engaged to manage this special care school. Activities like health check up and medicine, teaching learning material, filter, sports material, and other entertainment activities are organized for the effectiveness of the program. The teaching - learning is based on non-formal approach and joyful processes. In this center one Management body is formed among the parents and teacher who monitor the activities effectively. |
EDUCATING SLUM COMMUNITIES AND SCHOOL GOERS ON ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
This program is organized to ensure that every community member & school going child is aware about his environment and their responsibility towards its management. Group meetings, one day workshops and Tree Plantations has been conducted.

COMPETITIONS
LACIT organised various sports, drawing & essay competitions for the slum men, women, youth, & children. Winners from each competition were followed by a group supper and distribution of gifts.

AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS
These campaigns are held frequently to create awareness in children, youth and women to change their attitude towards socio-economic & health standards.
MEETINGS AND SHARING OF KNOWLEDGE
Meetings are organized once a month. The aim is to share each others experiences and ensure smooth working of various projects and programs amongst the staff and volunteers.

The staff team of LACIT attends these meetings to review the performance of the programs. In some meetings local slum community members were invited to participate and share their comments and views for any further development. |
